Band continues in their commitment to excellence
and innovation!!!!!
Kennesaw Mountain High School was opened in August of 2000. In it’s brief
seven-year history, Kennesaw Mountain has become one of the leading music
education programs across the nation; including Marching Band, Concert
Bands, Winter Guard, Indoor Percussion and Jazz Band. The Kennesaw Mountain
High School Marching Band is under the leadership of Director of Bands David
Starnes, Associate Director of Bands Jeff Harper and Assistant Director of
Bands David Roth.
The Band’s 2007 production is titled “Picture This”. This show takes the
audience on a musical and visual journey through Water, Land and Sky.
The Marching Band attended the Bands of America Regional Championship at
Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday October 13th. During
the Preliminary portion of the competition, the Marching Band received top
honors including First Place in Class AAA. They also won the captions for
Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and
Outstanding General Effect. In Finals Competition, they finished in First
Place overall, winning also the caption for Outstanding General Effect and
tied with Wando High School, SC for Outstanding Visual Performance.
The Marching Band also attended the Bands of America Super Regional Championship at
the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA on Saturday October 27th. During
the Preliminary portion of the competition, the Marching Band received top
honors including First Place in Class AAA. They also won the captions for
Outstanding Music Performance and
Outstanding General Effect. In Finals Competition, they finished in Second
Place overall, winning the caption for Outstanding Music Performance.
The band competed with 38 other groups from around the nation and earned
their highest score of the season with a 90.1. Congratulations to the
students, staff and parents for your tremendous accomplishments this year!
