Welcome to the webpage for the Kennesaw Mountain High School Concert Two Band!  This website is designed to be used by students (and their parents) currently enrolled in the Concert Two band class.  While the objectives of the website are listed below, here is a little bit of history about the origination of the site.

This website began as a project for Dr. Samuel Reese’s MUS 447 (Technology-Based Music Instruction) class at the University of Illinois during the Summer of 2006.   This website is currently undergoing simple construction and maintenance with the hope that it will be ready for launching in the Spring of 2008.   With the approval of Kennesaw Mountain High School Principal Kevin Daniel and Fine Arts Administrator Betty Garner, it is my hope that this website will be a useful tool for all students and parents involved with the Concert Two class. 

Through use of the website, students will be able to:

• access a weekly calendar of lesson plans
• listen to professional recordings of band and orchestra literature
• listen to recordings of classroom rehearsals
• obtain written assignments pertaining to above recordings
• engage in music theory exercises that directly pertain to material being studied
• download music or warm-up exercises for class, and
• research historical information related to music currently being studied.

This website incorporates a number of the National Standards for Music Education, set forth by MENC.  Chief among these are NA.9-12.6 and NA.9-12.7.  Implementation of this classroom website also incorporates a number of Technology Foundation Standards for Students, as outlined by the ISTE.  The first and third standard, specifically, are put into practice by students when they access the website.  In addition, Cobb County has laid out certain standards for fine arts courses, a number of which are met through the usage of this website.  These standards are found here.
