Amy Roberts
The
Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band and Concert Band program has
provided unparalleled opportunity
and educational experience for my daughter
over the last four years. The
directors, David Starnes, Jeff Harper and
David Roth, are inspirational
educators. They have established a program
which creates an environment of
learning, discipline, dedication and
commitment. While the Marching
Band program has excelled and won national
recognition in a very short
period of time, the directors never let the
students lose sight of their true
goal - to achieve to the highest level of
their ability -- to leave their
best performance on the field each and every
time. In doing so, the students
learn the value of hard work, discipline,
and commitment - life lessons
that will serve them well as they mature and
establish themselves in the adult
world. Equally as important, the students
are afforded the opportunity to
increase their musical skills and are
exposed to new and challenging
music. The love of music, which is already
present, is further strengthened.
The KMHS Marching Band program has become another "family" for my daughter.
She has established friendships
and bonds that will stay with her for years
to come. Together, the "Band
Family" has shared fun times and hard work,
tears and laughter, and
disappointments (not many) and triumphs. The
Booster organization - KMBO - has
provided the opportunity for our whole
family to expand our circle of
friends and to become involved in a school
activity that brings joy and
satisfaction to our daughter. Participation in
the KMHS Band program has been a
truly positive experience and will remain a
highlight of our daughter's high
school career. I can attest to the fact
that the Directors guide their
students every day to live up to and honor
the mission of the Band program -
"A Commitment to Excellence and
Innovation."
