Band rocks! I was a freshman this year, and
ever since I was in 6th Grade I wanted to be in the marching
band.
Band is more than stands tunes that the
cheerleaders dance to, and it’s more than parades and halftime shows. Band
is about dedication! Some days you won’t want to come to band, but the
directors will find out, so don’t skip! Practice pays off in the
end, I promise!
It’s impossible to get lost on the field,
too. You won’t end up marching drill on the wrong side of the field. We
get new drill every year, and we have good teachers who teach it to us, and
it’s a lot of fun. The music is fun and you won’t mind practicing it.
When you’re in band you have 250 friends;
when you’re with non-band friends and you see a band person in the hall, say
“hey”—you’re other friends will think you are soooo cool! Don’t listen to
people who say that seniors will pick on you—they won’t! Sophomores always
say “haha, little freshman,” but that’s because they know exactly how you
feel!
The things I learned most about in band were
dedication and responsibility. It takes a ton of both! Join band, it
rocks!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bridges
