2006 Marching Band
Named 3rd in
Nation
The Kennesaw Mountain High School Band attended
the Bands of America Grand National Championships November 9-11 in
Indianapolis, Indiana at the RCA Dome. This three-day event is considered
the national marching band championship and represented 93 of the finest
high school bands from 40 states throughout the United States. Kennesaw
Mountain was one of two Cobb County Schools to attend the National Championship
this year and was very successful in their performances. The band was
selected among a field of 93 bands to advance into the semi-final round of
35 for performance on Saturday. After their strongest performance of the
season, they advanced from this round as a Finalist and received the Most Outstanding Music caption. This performance earned them the right to compete
in the Grand National Finals competition Saturday night that showcases the
top twelve bands from across the nation. Their performance in finals yet
again marked a milestone for their participation at the Bands of America
Grand National Championships as they finished third overall with a scor of 95.0.
Earlier this fall, the band competed in tone other Bands of America Regional
competition and a performace at the Western Caolina Tournament of Champions that served as performances that led to the national
competition. In late October, the band attended the Atlanta, Georgia
Regional and was awarded third place. At the Tournament of Champions, The KMHS band was awarded first place and recognized as highest achievment in Colorguard, Drum Majors, and Percussion.
